A win for Hill

Novelist Lawrence Hill is the winner of this year’s Governor General’s History Award for Popular Media (also known as the Pierre Berton Award), for bringing Canadian history to a wide audience.

Hill’s Book Of Negroes (2007, filed in Adult Fiction) is one of the most popular books in Canadian publishing history. You’ll also find his other novels on Lennoxville Library fiction shelves (in both French and English under his name), and non-fiction at 305.8 (Black Berry, Sweet Juice: On Being Black And White In Canada, 2001).
