Political writing

The finalists have been announced for this year’s annual Shaughnessy Cohen Prize for Political Writing, which honours a book of “literary nonfiction that captures a political subject of relevance to Canadian readers and has the potential to shape or influence thinking on Canadian political life.”

The finalists are Joseph Heath for Enlightenment 2.0: Restoring Sanity To Our Politics, Our Economy, And Our Lives; Chantal Hébert with Jean Lapierre for The Morning After: The 1995 Quebec Referendum And The Day That Almost Was (available in the Lennoxville Library in French at 971.4); Naomi Klein for This Changes Everything: Capitalism Vs. The Climate (we have her previous books, No Logo at 338.88 and The Shock Doctrine at 330.12); John Ralston Saul for The Comeback: How Aboriginals Are Reclaiming Power And Influence (we have his On Equilibrium at 128 and A Fair Country: Telling Truths About Canada at 971); and Graham Steele for What I Learned About Politics: Inside the Rise—and Collapse—Of Nova Scotia’s NDP Government.
