Canada Reads 2015

Tis the time for the new Canada Reads, when CBC Radio asks the country to choose one book that “can change perspectives, challenge stereotypes and illuminate issues.”

Here’s the 2015 shortlist, and the readers who will hold up each book to scrutiny:

• And the Birds Rained Down, by Jocelyne Saucier, translated by Rhonda Mullins (Martha Wainwright)
• Intolerable: A Memoir of Extremes, by Kamal Al-Solaylee (Kristin Kreuk)
• Ru, by Kim Thúy, translated by Sheila Fischman (Cameron Bailey)
• The Inconvenient Indian, by Thomas King (Craig Kielburger)
• When Everything Feels Like The Movies, by Raziel Reid (Elaine “Lainey” Lui).

The Canada Reads debates will be heard March 16 to 19. Better get reading!
